PIRATE RADIO 94.9 FM | Rodney Graham selects “Santo + Johnny, Offshore”
The Charles H. Scott Gallery is pleased to present Pirate Radio, a series of ongoing musical programs broadcast from Granville Island at 94.9 FM. Presented as part of The Voyage, or Three Years at Sea, a series of exhibitions, publications, and events about the sea curated by Cate Rimmer.
Pirate Radio draws its inspiration from offshore radio stations administered on ships or marine platforms. Traditionally transmitted on unregulated airwaves and unlicensed by any government these radio stations operated outside of National boundaries, embracing the lawlessness of the ocean.
Pirate Radio will feature ocean related playlists chosen by a variety of artists. The first in our series: “Santo and Johnny – Offshore”, has been selected by artist Rodney Graham, whose work: The Lighthouse Keeper with Lighthouse Model 1955, was recently shown in Part I of the exhibition series.
Tune in on Granville Island, in the vicinity of Emily Carr University to pick up Pirate Radio playing Santo + Johnny.
